Unless a census taker can show me a constitutional requirement, the only information I plan to give are the number and names of the people in my household. The census taker might say, "It's the law." Posting has been light from me this week because I have the flu. I thought this might be a good time to tell how I felt in case any of you might have these symptoms. If you do, get yourself to the Dr quick!
I worked at the Just Between Friends consignment sale all day on Sunday. I felt fine. I sneezed a couple of times, but that's pretty typical. I got home around 9:00 and my throat started hurting. Not just a little- it hurt a lot. I took a couple of benadryl and went to bed, where I used the chloraseptic throat lozenges- which really didn't help. When I woke up Monday morning, it was like I had swallowed razor blades. I also had a fever. I thought to myself, "I bet I have strep throat." All day, I felt horrible. I drank Dr. Pepper and milk shakes trying to soothe my throat. Finally, when my husband was able to get my girls (I was not about to take them into the urgent care clinic with me) I went to the doc. They did a strep test, which was unpleasant. Then I saw the doctor, and they did a flu test, which was beyond unpleasant and just awful. He confirmed that I had the flu. Not what I was expecting to hear.
The point of my story here is this: it came on VERY suddenly. The doc said the incubation period is 7-10 days, so I have no clue where I would have picked it up. Contrary to what some believe, the flu doesn't usually mean throwing up- that's mostly in children. You may think you just have a cold, but if your throat hurts and it all comes on very suddenly (think 0-100 in 5 seconds), go to the doctor.
I'm taking three medications right now and trying to get better. I am SO bored. There's only so much sleeping, tv watching, and ds playing one can do. And to top it all off, the sun is shining. Not fair.

Listening to Pat Campbell interview Mary Fallin on the radio. No wonder she won't commit to a debate. Brogdon will destroy her. She can hardly answer a single question straight. All her answers begin with "well". If we want another politician in the Governor's mansion, she's our girl. If we really want to change this state by electing a REAL conservative, we must get behind Randy Brogdon.
What has Mary Fallin done to reduce the power of government? Nothing. She thinks government should help to create jobs. I still fail to see how any Conservative can listen to/read about Randy Brogdon and his beliefs and still be a Fallin supporter. It makes NO SENSE.

Brogdon Wins Committee Approval for Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act
State Sen. Randy Brogdon continued his push to better protect the individual rights of Oklahomans on Tuesday with committee approval of the Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act. Under the provisions of Senate Bill 1685, no firearms or ammunition manufactured in Oklahoma and remaining in the state could be subject to any federal regulations, including federal registration requirements.
“This is simply a reaffirmation of our second amendment rights. Too many times, Washington has abused the interstate commerce clause in an attempt to undermine our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” said Brogdon, R-Owasso. “Ever increasingly, we’ve watched the federal government chip away at states’ rights and our individual rights as outlined in the U.S. Constitution. This legislation is an attempt to better protect the rights of Oklahoma citizens who choose to protect themselves and their families.”
The legislation, which was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, now proceeds to the full Senate for consideration.
“Time after time, we’ve seen members of the U.S. Congress and federal bureaucrats work to enact public policy that is in direct violation of not only our second amendment rights, but the ninth and tenth amendments as well,” Brogdon said. “States like Oklahoma must stand up to this erosion of our personal freedoms. Passage of the Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act will help us do that.”

This "spending" of money really bothers me. It reminds me of the "bread and circuses" that bankrupted Rome and brought the great nation to its knees by politicians more concerned with their own self-interest than the interest of their country.
First perception means everything. Whether it's a first date, selling a house, or even voting for a politician. I guess that's why Rep. Mary Fallin is so intent on making sure she has a large following on her Facebook fanpage. Over the last few days, Fallin's campaign has bought a number of FB ads encouraging folks to join her FB fanpage.
She seems so set in increasing her following (5,857 currently) that she has this as her status update for the fanpage:

Now first of all, it's quite common for bands, businesses, and politicians to encourage folks to join their online support group. However, paying for that organic support is a bit of a stretch. I wonder how her donors would feel if they knew she was spending frivolous money like this. Makes one wonder how she'll spend money if she wins the Governor's mansion.
As a comparison, Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso) has 2,318 fans at the time of this post, Jari Askins has 1,537, and Drew Edmondson has 2,279. I believe all their support is "organic" in the sense that they have not paid advertisement to increase their numbers.
I saw a post on Gateway Pundit today that pointed out only 6% of Americans believe the stimulus bill created jobs. Thinking about this particular six percent of delusional people made me remember an article I saw about people believing NASA faked the moon landing. Guess what? In a 1999 Gallup poll, they found six percent believed we didn't land on the moon. I'm guessing it's the same six percent. They probably also believe fire can't melt steel.
A new website - www.Stop744.com - was released today leading the effort to defeat State Question 744 which would require that Oklahoma spend and additional $850 million in taxpayer monies.

Due to the 55" of snow that has paralyzed Washington, DC., Sen. Coburn was recently stranded at his DC office. Not to worry, Coburn is the only Senator to personally respond to every constituent's email, fax, or letter, so he had no trouble staying busy.
Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn found himself stranded inside the Capitol, an odd position for a small-government curmudgeon who called the government shutdown a "dream." He cleaned his desk, wrote to constituents, read books and reveled at the empty corridors of power.
"The best thing is we're not passing any legislation, which ultimately will save the government a lot of money," he said. "We're not gonna be blamed for this one," he added, alluding to a prior shutdown in 1996, caused by a dispute over the federal budget.
