Obama bows to Tampa mayor Ioro

Yes folks.  It's true.  Obama doesn't just bow to foreign leaders, he also bows to local mayors here in the U.S.

From the folks at RedState.com:

The mayor of Tampa isn’t a Third World potentate, totalitarian dictator, or terrorist leader so I can’t understand why Obama would be in full-bow mode. Is bowing now the standard way the President greets people these days? Is he misoriented, for some reason, and thinks Tampa is a terrorist stronghold or an enemy of the United States? Does the US owe Tampa a boatload of money and the bow just good business practice?

January 2010 Winter Storm
Events

For those of you who slept through it, Tulsa just went through a very large winter storm the past several days.  Preceded by an inch or two of ice (depending on the location in Oklahoma) on Thursday, there fell up to 7 or 8 inches of snow on Friday.  After our blizzard on Christmas Eve earlier this winter and the ice storm of Dec. 2007, most people were savvy enough to prepare for this week's storm.

By God's grace, most folks in the NW Oklahoma region did not suffer power outage (my sympathies for those in Lawton area).

Here are some pictures I snapped on my iPhone the past few days.

Both dogs were so engrossed with their bones that they just kept gnawing at them while the snow collected on their backs.

The drive home.  It is a two lane highway, but traffic was down to one lane.

The dog at home buried deep in her doghouse.  The snow collected pretty high on her little igloo.

This picture gives the best visual on the amount of snow that fell.

Icicles on the church building.

Oklahoma is changing the words to the State Song. It now goes like this:

SNOW…….klahoma
Where the cold front's sweepin' down the plain
And the piles of sleet, beneath your feet
Follow right behind the freezing rain.

SNOW…….klahoma
Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Travel home from work and hope some jerk
Doesn’t wreck our car in passing by!

We know we belong to the land
But it could use some more salt and more sand

That’s why we say…..WHOA!
We’re sliding the other way…….YIKES!

We’re only sayin’
You’re slick as snot SNOWklahoma
SNOWklahoma
SNOW-K-L-A-H-O-M-A

SNOWklahoma, SNOW-K!

Follow jasoncarini and mshellisright on twitter for our live tweets on the SOTU.  I'm going to try to count the number of times he says the word "I".  Don't do a drinking game based on that or you will be drunk in the first ten minutes.

State of the Union - Tulsa watch event (party?)
Congress

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 21:32

Hosted by the folks at The USA Patriots, a number of concerned citizens will be meeting for a State of the Union watch event (party?) to watch President Obama.

Obama has promised a lot over the past year, and has raised the financial liability of every American significantly.  It will be interesting to see what he has to say in regards to health care/insurance, job loss, deficit spending, broken promises, war against terror, and to see what hope (if any) he gives to the American people.

Oversight of elected officials is our job.  We have to become the politicians' conscience since some of them in D.C. seem to be missing it.

Location: Applebee's - 10461 South Memorial Dr.

Time: 7:00 - 9:30 (come and go)

>>>>

Weather update: the upcoming storm be coming in later on in the evening (possibly after midnight), so roads should be safe.  Obviously, if you don't feel comfortable driving, don't come!

I'm sure we can all agree that 50 minutes is PLENTY of time to interrogate a terrorist.

From The Washington Examiner via Gateway Pundit:

On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs whether President Obama was informed of the decision to read Abdulmutallab his Miranda rights before or after it was done. Gibbs avoided the question, saying, “That decision was made by the Justice Department and the FBI, with experienced FBI interrogators.” Gibbs stressed that “Abdulmutallab was interrogated and valuable intelligence was gotten as a result of that interrogation.”

Wallace pressed. “But we now find out he was interrogated for 50 minutes,” he said to Gibbs. “When they came back, he was read his Miranda rights and he clammed up.”

“No,” Gibbs answered. “Again, he was interrogated. Valuable intelligence was gotten based on those interrogations. And I think the Department of Justice and the — made the right decision, as did those FBI agents.”

“Let me just press one last question,” Wallace said. “You really don’t think that if you’d interrogated him longer that you might have gotten more information, since we now know that Al Qaeda in Yemen — ”

“Well, FBI interrogators believe they got valuable intelligence and were able to get all that they could out of him,” Gibbs said.

“All they could?” Wallace asked.

“Yeah,” Gibbs said.

Now we have bin Laden sending out a message, and IntelCenter, a group that monitors Islamist websites is saying this about it:

"The Osama bin Laden audio message released to Al-Jazeera on 24 January 2010 contains specific language used by bin Laden in his statements in advance of attacks," IntelCenter said in a statement.

The group said it considered the language "a possible indicator of an upcoming attack" in the next 12 months.

Is this really the time to start allowing terrorists to lawyer up and avoid the type of interrogation necessary to keep this country safe?  Nobody believes that 50 minutes is enough interrogation time to get all the information necessary out of someone that was going to blow up an airplane.  It doesn't seem to me that he would be very forthcoming with information to help us when just hours before he was willing to die for his evil cause.

Proposed new Turnpike for Tulsa
State Legislature
Written by Jason
Sunday, 24 January 2010 15:06

State Sen. Brian Bingman has proposed a new turnpike for the west side of Tulsa.  SB 1764 (page 8, lines 12-16) reads in whole:

(35)  A new turnpike or any parts thereof beginning at Interstate 44 at or near its intersection 49th West Avenue, past State Highway 64/412, turning north easterly, crossing 41st West Avenue, continuing eastward to the L.L. Tisdale Expressway in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I took the liberty of drawing a rough outline of the proposed turnpike on Google maps.

You can also use this link to interact with the Bingman turnpike.
